Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. By continuing to use this website, you acknowledge the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive limited technical information when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device that help show how visitors move through the website, including popular pages and common exit points. Analytics services combine that traffic information. You may block cookies in your browser, although doing so can change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

This website does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It provides general directions to Cherokee County record custodians, including the sheriff, criminal courts, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing practices govern information submitted through those tools. We do not control those practices, so review the applicable provider policy before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links to sheriff offices, court portals, Georgia agencies, legal-aid resources, and outside tools lead away from this website. Once you follow one, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select ads. Their systems, rather than ours, conduct that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to limited categories of recipients:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the available contact channel.

Your Data Rights

Applicable Georgia privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights. The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, governs access to public-agency records rather than data held by this private website. GCIC criminal-history dissemination is separately governed by O.C.G.A. § 35-3-34. With respect to information we control, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. Any revision will appear here with an updated effective date, so this page should be reviewed periodically for current practices.

Effective date: July 18, 2026
